About Us

St Pauli Vineyard is located on 10 hectares in the heart of Moutere, New Zealand. Its vines were planted in 2001. Originally from the UK, we discovered the vineyard in 2017 when searching for our next adventure and a place to start our family. The lands simple loveliness and obvious potential cast a spell on us and with rose tinted glasses firmly in place we set about creating our new life. We now enjoy every day on the vineyard working toward growing and hand-harvesting the best grapes for our wine.

The rich and loamy Moutere clay supports our commitment to sustainably producing premium wine, no irrigation is needed and the vines are fertilised by grazing livestock. The long temperate season allows the grapes to develop naturally complex flavours, perfect for crafting our single vineyard wines. Wine is made and bottled locally by expert winemakers. The process is kept simple and traditional. Each vintage is unique, a true expression of work and the provenance of nature.

As we are both from the UK, we are thrilled to be exporting our New Zealand wine to our old home and we hope you enjoy it.

Please don't hesitate to get in touch via email, we'd love to hear from you.

Thank you, Robyn & Gareth Evans

Meet The Team

Robyn

Hailing from Edinburgh, I grew up in Nelson. My role at St Pauli Vineyard is varied – which is what I love about it. I look after the accounts and UK sales, assist Tess with national sales and generally help where I can. Alongside my vineyard work I continue to practise as a midwife at Nelson Hospital. When time permits, I enjoy the outdoors – running, cycling and being on the water.

Gareth

Originally from a small seaside town in the South of England I moved to Tasman with Robyn in 2017. I’m responsible for the overall upkeep and production of our vineyard - focusing on longevity of the vines and lightly tending to the canopy. Maintaining rows of healthy vines is incredibly satisfying but it’s a huge relief when the grapes are harvested, and I can relax at the end of the season. When not tending to the vines I play football for Richmond suburbs and enjoy being in the outdoors with my family.

Tess

After growing up in Nelson, I moved to Christchurch to live and study for several years. Upon my return I have enjoyed living the Nelson lifestyle and working with different local businesses. At St Pauli, I look after the marketing and sales side. When not at St Pauli, you'll find me walking or camping somewhere in the countryside.
